Trondheim is a city with a long and exciting history – the city was founded by Olav Tryggvason as early as the year 997, and was then called Nidaros. With just over 195,000 inhabitants, Trondheim, in Trøndelag county, is today Norway’s third largest city. With its beautiful location at Nidälven’s outlet, the city is a nice destination for those wishing to see a mix of old picturesque wooden houses and modern architecture. Trondheim is a focal point on Norway’s largest and most important motorway, the E6. In addition, several railways and the famous Hurtigruten all connect together in the city.
