We are proud of all the women who work with us creating wonderful experiences for our guests every day. For these women – and indeed all women – we must remember that the fight is far from over. Our employees have come up with a number of initiatives to highlight the fact that the world is not yet gender-equal.
Women’s entrepreneurship + coffee
When you’re out and about and you pass by one of our hotels, then make sure to come on in for a nice cup of coffee. Not only is it Fairtrade and organic, but it has also been specially made for our members together with selected coffee farmers!
Our coffee is the result of an ongoing collaboration with the Löfbergs coffee roasting company, supporting women coffee farmers in Honduras. They receive financial support and training on how to shift their farms into organic production. The farmers have also got language training to help them develop their businesses. And that makes the coffee taste even better, right?
Löfbergs goes to great lengths to support female entrepreneurship in Honduras.
For a gender-equal restaurant industry
Most of you will be familiar with #metoo, but what about #härtardetslut (lit. “it ends here”)? The hashtag was created in November 2020, after stories came out about sexual harrassment at a famous and exclusive restaurant in Stockholm. Chefs, bar staff and sommeliers took the chance to shed light on what’s been going on behind the scenes.
Sofia B. Olsson, Operations Manager at the VRÅ restaurant at the Clarion Hotel® Post, was one of the two people behind the hashtag. Following a meeting in February 2022, the hashtag initiative resulted in the formation of the Framtidens Krogkultur association, which actively works to promote positive steps towards an equal and attractive restaurant industry without abuse or violations. Among other things, the association arranges meetings and workshops on this topic and Sofia B. Olsson is now Chairman of Framtidens Krogkultur.

Being a woman and a leader at Comfort Hotel®
To mark International Women’s Day in 2020, Comfort Hotel® interviewed various leaders throughout the organisation. Had they experienced any negativity in the workplace as a result of being a woman in a position of leadership? What did they think could encourage more women to take on such positions? And what tips did they have on what we can do in everyday life to get closer to achieving equality? Read the interviews with the five women leaders here.
Natalia Papaioannou, Barception Manager, Comfort Hotel® Kista
We’re always looking for more women to join the team! Check out our job vacancies here.
