Copenhagen shopping guide – a delightful mix of beautiful Danish design
The Danes have cultivated a style like no other, which can be pretty much summed up as "I woke up like this". PR manager and fashion expert Frederikke Schantz guides you to the very best shops in Copenhagen.
"First and foremost, I have to say that Copenhagen is a delightful city to simply wander around in. It's a metropolis, yet it exudes a local feel."
"With small cafés on street corners filled with regulars, Copenhageners commuting to work on bicycles, and the unmistakable presence of Danish design throughout our history," Frederikke told Strawberry.
She is a trained tailor, resides in Østerbro, and is a mother of two and PR manager for the Danish clothing brand MUNTHE.
Not only that, but she is also an Instagrammer, and extremely well informed about what's happening in the fashion world.
"When it comes to the shops in Copenhagen, you have a delightful mix of luxury fashion, small local boutiques, and all the incredible Danish designers side by side."
The Danes' Casual Style
Danes are renowned throughout Europe for their minimalist and functional style, both in clothing and interior design.
"As mentioned, design is something most Danes have grown up with, and it's also something that comes naturally to us in everyday life."
"Copenhageners have embraced the 'I woke up like this' look, where style is something to play with, preferably without too much makeup, and with a desire to appear casually chic," says Frederikke.

Great Shopping Tips in Copenhagen
Although the Danes excel at minimalism, Nordic style, and a relaxed attitude, Frederikke challenges you when shopping in the city:
"Stay true to yourself. If you love colour, go all out. If you're a minimalist, stick to that, of course."
"I mean, I often look at minimalist women who only dress in black/beige and feel envious of their calm and luxurious style, but if I wear such clothes, I fall asleep when I look at myself in the mirror," says Frederikke, laughing.
She herself is often dressed in a vibrant green blazer, pink shirt, and trousers, or layer upon layer of colours.
"Draw inspiration from all the lovely trends that come and go over time, but only embrace the trend that suits you. I'm the kind of person who absorbs everything new, but it's important not to lose yourself along the way."
Be true to who you are, and happy shopping in Copenhagen!
