1. Skansen’s Christmas market
When: 24 November - 17 December 2023
Where: Skansen, Stockholm
Getting here: Take a bus or tram to Skansen station
The much-loved Skansen Christmas market will be held during four weekends in the run-up to Christmas. It’s an annual tradition that has been going since the early 1900s. The market features 70 different stalls selling a range of high quality goods. You’ll find stalls selling festive food including thick pancakes known as kolbullar, game burgers and plenty of other traditional treats! The old workshop invites you to take a trip back in time to see how Christmas has been celebrated through the ages. Dance around the Christmas tree in the square, do some handicrafts in the workshop, visit the animals and sample all the delicious goodies on offer here at the market!

2. Christmas market in the Old Town
When: 25 November - 23 December 2023
Where: Stortorget, Stockholm
Getting here: Take the metro to Gamla Stan station
The Christmas market in the Old Town is one of Sweden’s oldest Christmas markets. Here you’ll find 41 stalls selling everything from toffee, cheese and Christmas sausages to wrought iron decorations, pottery and more! The magnificent Storkyrkan (“Great Church”) is just next to the market and is itself well worth a visit. Come and absorb the historical festive spirit here in the Old Town with some glögg and pepparkaka (mulled wine and gingerbread)!

3. Sigtuna Christmas market
When: 26 November - 17 December 2023
Where: Stora Gatan, Stora Torget and Lilla Torget in Sigtuna
Getting here: Take a bus to Sigtuna Hällsboskolan station
Come to Sigtuna’s traditional Christmas market to truly get into the festive spirit on four Sundays in the run-up to Christmas. Visitors can marvel at the wonderful streets and squares that will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time! There are plenty of market stalls selling traditional Christmas foods that appear on the classic julbord or Christmas smorgasbord! And there’s something for the whole family here too. Dance around the Christmas tree, celebrate Lucia or share your Christmas wish with Santa!

4. Christmas market at Steninge Palace
When: 11 November – 23 December 2023
Where: Steninge Slottsgalleria, Stenladugården, Märsta
Getting here: Take a bus to Saturnusringen station
Sigtuna is also home to Steninge Palace, where there is an annual traditional Christmas market on the stone barn’s spacious big upper floor (Stenladan). Come inside and enjoy good food and delicious treats! You’ll also find beautiful handicrafts that make ideal Christmas presents, as well as locally produced delicacies for your julbord and decorations for your home.

5. Christmas market at Täby Park
When: 2 December 2023
Where: Galoppvägen 1, Täby
Getting here: Take a bus to Norra Bergtorp station
You’ll be met by Christmas music all over the market at Täby Park! The focus is on food and drink, and you’ll be able to purchase plenty of goodies for your own julbord. In addition to that you can buy beautiful handicrafts, plants and of course glögg!

6. Christmas market at Taxinge Castle
When: 17-19 & 23–26 November 2023
Where: Taxinge Slott Näsby 52, Nykvarn
Getting here: Take a bus to Taxinge station
Taxinge Castle is located around 60 kilometres from Stockholm. More than 100 of the country’s best artisans and food producers meet here for the Christmas market. Come here to get all your Christmas shopping done in just one day as you wander from stall to stall admiring the wonderful creations! You can also get plenty of goodies for your Christmas buffet – and there’s lots of sampling involved too! The castle is frequently labelled “cake castle”. Come and see for yourself – Sweden’s largest cake buffet is almost too good to be true!

7. Christmas market at Siggesta Gård
When: 9-10 December 2023
Where: Siggesta Gård, Värmdö
Getting here: Take a bus to Siggesta station
Siggestå Gård is located out in the archipelago about 40 kilometres from the centre of Stockholm. During one weekend in December, you are invited to a Christmas market where the focus is on Swedish food culture and fine handicrafts from all over the country. Find everything from the farm’s very own delicatessen to handcrafted gifts! This is an ideal place for a spot of Christmas shopping.
