Clarion Collection® Hotel Savoy

Perfect location, very helpfull and friendly staff. A nice thing is the afternoon coffee and cake also the light meal available for fred… every day. Its clean but Interior need Update

We stayed recently for 4 nights. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty and evening meal, even though labelled as “light” consisted of soup, bread, 3 different types of salad, carbohydrates such as rice, pasta or potatoes and some sort of protein (meat of fish). Given the food prices in restaurants in Oslo this was such a good option. There was also afternoon coffee and cake available although we were mostly out that time and only sampled it once. The ONLY issue was that of the noise from the neighbouring bar on weekend nights. I was able to get to sleep still but my husband had to use earplugs. Room itself was nice, bed comfortable, bathroom clean and equipped with everything we needed.

Extreme noise from the bar nearby…very loud in the room. I called about midnight as the noise level went even higher…They said yes very famous bar it goes on until 3 AM. Every Friday and Saturday. We are booked and can not move you. Impossible to sleep in this room on the third floor.

Stayed for a weekend with my wife. First impression was good, and the staff friendly, but it went downhill as soon as we got our keycards and took the tiny elevator up to the 4th floor. - The size of the room was great, but it felt like a dull storage room for 70s furniture. Stripped of color and charm, dust and dirt in the windows, dents in the walls, and cracks in the bathroom tiles. - The shower and toilet both made a lot of noise, and could do with some updated plumbing. The showerhead badly needed replacing. - The bed was comfortable, but whenever one of us moved, the choir of squeeky springs would wake up the other. - No air-condition, so windows had to be open, which (as others have pointed out) is not ideal, as the tram and nightlife kept us awake until we gave up and slept in. - A lot of noise from neighbouring rooms as well. Seemingly moving furniture, stomping around, flushing, showering. - Coffee machine didn't work properly, which was probably for the best, as there was still old sludgy water inside. - Television was troubled with glitching and screen tearing on 3/4 of the available channels, and there were no smart functions for streaming apps. - Minibar/fridge was unplugged and stuffed in the wardrobe. Which didn't bother me, but I've never seen a hotel room that didn't have at least some waterbottles, or a tray of overpriced snacks available. - The breakfast is the most claustrophobic experience I've had in a hotel (apart from the elevator). The buffet area was far too cramped for that many guests and kitchen staff moving around. The seating layout lead to strangers awkwardly sharing tables of varying sizes. We decided to have the rest of our meals elsewhere, so I have no idea what the coffee/cake and evening meals were like. - After a second night of poor sleep due to noise and heat, we decided to check out before breakfast and leave Oslo early. All in all, harsh but deserved. This is not good enough for the price they charge a night. We've stayed in cheaper hotels nearby that held far higher standards.

We booked this hotel expecting to get a good experience... Savoy should mean something, right ? Room (we booked Superior Room): - smelly (bathroom) ; so they gave a new room for the second night. - extremely noisy (the tramway passed underneath our room(s) and there is a popular bar nearby with people shouting throughout the night). Earplugs are ESSENTIAL - bed : neither rooms had 2 good beds. + Clean - no airco (so you have to open the window... with the tram passing...) - carpet - no safe Food : ok. They offer free light snack-dinner, which is ok Location : central but noisy I would not recommend this hotel
