If it's a modern design hotel with history that you're after, then you've come to the right place. Comfort Hotel Grand Central is located in the oldest part of Oslo central station, Østbanehallen.
Unique mix of then and now
Our stylish hotel rooms and lounges are a world unto themselves. Comfort Hotel Grand Central's modern and chic rock interiors by architects Lars Helling and Ajas Mellbye with artistic creations by Ariel McMillion make an impressive contrast to the station building which dates back to 1854. Some of our hotel rooms are inspired by compact studio apartments in Williamsburg, New York, others are listed and have their very own stories to tell. "Industrial shabby chic", is how the hotel's interior designer Lars Helling describes the style. We think it's simply the best.
1854
But now back to 1854. Close your eyes and picture the scene – crowds milling around at the train station in the mid-19th century, trains chugging their way out of the station, people saying tearful goodbyes to their loved ones, kids laughing as they hang out the train windows, filled with excitement, and the echo of the voice over the loudspeaker announcing the next departure. Open your eyes and voilà – back to the present.
2012
Even though the hotel was built in 2012 you can still feel the passage of time in the building. Norway's first railway track started its journey in Østbanehallen and ended in Eidsvoll. In the very same spot today is our restaurant Bella Bambina where chef Ole Johnny Eikfjord is hard at work. Don't miss a visit to our restaurant when you stay with us at Comfort Hotel Grand Central.
A suite fit for a king
By the way, did you know that you can stay in the former Norwegian King's waiting room at the station? We have created this suite in close partnership with Riksantikvariet (the Swedish National Heritage Board). This royal room was also the scene where artist Alexandra Joner recorded one of her music videos. This is one of our most popular rooms, but we also have other stylish suites. And you can be sure you'll find your very own favourite.
