Clarion Collection® Hotel Aurora

Tromso is a beautiful city, people are awesome. We were disappointed because we did not get to see the Northern lights. Cloudy five days, then on departure date, completely clear skies.

I found it very bad, the dishes are all dirty, the breakfast and dinner are not tasty and the cleaning of the room is non-existent, super bureaucratic, when they do they only change the towels, I thought it was really bad. The hotel is well located, but that's it. The service is completely disorganized, they do everything they can to not clean anything.

Firstly, the hotel is very nice, the food great, and the staff was always very friendly! However, we had some issues and unfortunately, received very poor service to address these. We gave the hotel multiple opportunities to sort it, but they didn't. See details below. What I would also point out is that their superior rooms with double beds are facing a surprisingly busy street (with a bus stop down below, which run well into the night). So, if you sleep with your window open, it is very noisy (including party people on weekends). Know this when considering upgrading. This apparently doesn't apply to the superior twin rooms as they face another way. We had some requests with the staff at reception, where we really didn't get a good service. 1. There was a terrible smell in the bathroom, which we reported on our first morning. To the end of our 5-night stay, they missed the request twice and in the end, we didn't bother checking again with reception. It was not solved nor addressed. I don't know if they looked into it at all. 2. We requested our room to be cleaned, and as per the hotel instructions did this before 10pm for the following day to be serviced (in fact, we did it at 10am). The room was not cleaned the next day, so we had to ask again the following evening. In the end, they replenished our toilet paper and gave us new towels, but didn't make the bed. Not really an issue, but if you don't order service by default, have your customers ask for it twice, it would have been nice to see an extra effort made. To improve their service, in my opinion, they will need to make sure the staff has the time, capability, and the communication system to forward requests from reception to the housekeeping staff. That would increase their service massively, as I don't think there was ill-intend, just people not really knowing how/ with capacity to do their job well.

Located close to the docks, the shopping area, other attractions, and great views. Didn't try the supper or tea, but the breakfast was very good with a large variety. The staff was especially friendly and helpful. The only negative was that the room was hot even with the heat turned down as low as it would go (late October). It was resolvable by opening the window, but did get annoying at times. As others mentioned, when you take a shower the water gets all over the place, but that isn't something specific to this hotel. For some reason I can't figure out, Europeans don't believe in full shower doors or shower curtains and this is a widespread issue. (they also don't believe in window screens)

The staff is really what gives this place it's charm. Very friendly, welcoming and attentive. The room itself is perfectly alright for a night's sleep, but nothing overwhelmingly special. As for the location, you're right in the center of the city so everything is within walking distance.
