Clarion Collection® Hotel With

The location is perfect, next to the harbour and in the city centre. The staff was very helpful. The buffet breakfast is below average with very limited selections. The weirdest thing happened one night. The door was double locked, but in the middle of the night a person entered our room even though double locked door.. When the person discovered us, he just dissappeard. Going for breakfast the next morning, the door could not be unlocked from inside, and we had contact the reception for help. The in-room telephone did not work so we had to call the reception from our mobile phone. Somewhat scary. We would not recommend this hotel

Location is perfect for exploring Tromso. The staff were first class, always friendly and happy to help. The only slight negative is the lack of kettle in the room, but as I say, that is the only slight negative. Superb stay

A small quirky period Hotel located right on the marina. Don’t expect the Ritz , but it offers warmth , comfort , homely , family appeal. No stark cold edges, or glittery displays. Help yourself attitude.Dining included, simple, adequate and effective ( great salads). Had high floor harbour and mountain view. Close walking distance to any where in town , even the cable car . Not forgetting the helpful friendly staff. Felt right at home here , would return .

Ideally located but so are so many others. We decided to book this hotel because of the evening meal offered as part of the price. When checking on Trip advisor guests had said there was plenty of choice.... My experience suggested other wise .... and in hindsight we wish we hadn't stayed at this hotel.....: On a plus ... the reception team seemed very kind and welcoming ... and it was ice they offered tea and cake in the afternoons which was nice. Our room ..., We had booked a Compact room ... and oh my it was compact our window view was of a dentist working ... . Not ideal. Looking up when laying on the bed the view was of a old sprinkler tap. Rooms are in need of decoration and refurbishment. Rooms not even serviced not unless you asked the night before. Towels you can have as many as you like As long as you helped yourself which are kept on racks in the corridor. Although this should not be allowed as it's a fire risk. More on the food ... Breakfast was good. Evening meal if you have an intolerance or vegetarian or you are picky it's not worth it. The board in reception mentioned they would make something. I found this not to be the case .... Non vegetarians were given a choice of salad two dishes and leaves. Soup Hot meal with potatoes or rice. When I mentioned i was vegetarian I was told I could have a plate of rice and salad . Which was rather disappointing. Another thing from a food hygiene point of view was if you arrived towards the end of the sittings soup was cold and nothing was replenished.

We stayed here for four nights as part of our Norway adventure. Everything was great. Good location, easy to walk everywhere. We had superior rooms with a harbour view, they were clean and comfortable with lovely toiletries. A little noise from pedestrians outside and boat masts clanking in the wind but I had ear plugs with me so not a problem. The food was delicious, plenty of choice at breakfast, coffee and cake in the afternoons and a light dinner, delicious soup, salads and a hot meal. The staff are all super welcoming and helpful. Special shout out to Henrik who was exceptional with his customer service skills. We had very wet mild weather and both our dog sledding and whale watching were cancelled. Our Northern Lights chase was very disappointing too. Despite all this we came away having enjoyed the hotel and Tromso itself.
