Historic setting
The hotel building dates back to the 1950s, when it was first built to house craftsmen (hantverkare), hence the name "Hantverkshuset". We have consciously tried to preserve and honour the building's history. The original 18 craftsmen and their respective trades are represented by symbols and authentic objects throughout the hotel, primarily in the conference rooms. The reception and restaurant showcases everything from iron, glass and copper objects relating to the history of craftsmanship.
According to an old Swedish building tradition, a lead-sealed copper box was hidden somewhere in the building's foundations. This box has since been recovered and has once again been walled in, though this time it is on display with beautiful lighting in the reception. The tradition lives on!
