Norefjell
This place is one of the largest skiing areas in Scandinavia, has a vertical drop of 1,008 m (3,307 ft.) and has 26 trails to satisfy all ski levels. Only a 90-minute drive from Oslo, you can make this a day trip while staying in Oslo; or you can stay close by at Norefjell Ski & Spa and enjoy the view every morning with your coffee and return to the spa in the evenings.
If you are seasoned skiers with equipment for the whole family, then there is a convenient repair shop to get a nice tune up before you take your first ride in the powder. If not, don’t worry – the resort has a collection of skis, snowboards and everything else you’ll need for your stay, both for you and the kids to rent. The resort offers a variety of single day to multi-day passes as well as ski schools to brush up on your skills – so be sure to plan early (resort opens mid-November) to make sure you make the most out of your time at the hill!
Nature at its best in Oppdal
Two hours south of Trondheim, you’ll find Oppdal and the Quality Hotel™ Skifer. Oppdal is a large ski resort comprising four mountains offering excellent cross-country and alpine skiing. The highest peak in Oppdal is an impressive 1,350 metres! The resort offers 17 lifts, 28 pistes, 2 snowparks and a special area just for children.
The beautiful Quality Hotel™ Skifer is located 545 metres above sea level. This is the place to come and recharge your batteries after a long day on the slopes! Relax tired muscles in the spa, enjoy a great meal in our restaurant or chill out in the bar with loved ones and a glass of your favourite tipple!
Unforgettable experiences in Narvik
With a large resort nestled between stunning fjords, you are in for a truly unforgettable skiing experience in Narvik. The Quality Hotel™ Grand Royal is just a few minutes away from the alpine resort in Narvik, where you’ll find a ski school, sledding slopes and downhill competitions.
The majestic surroundings and the excellent facilities will ensure you have an extra special winter holiday! The gondola on the Narvik mountain will take you up 656 metres above sea level. Marvel at magical views of the Ofotfjord and several famous mountains such as the “The Sleeping Queen”.

Extra: Åre, Sweden
Psst! We know we can’t move country borders, but we really want to include Åre as a wildcard. Especially since you can actually see Norway from this Swedish destination. Åreskutan mountain has an vertical elevation of 1,420 m (4,659 ft). While not the entire mountain is accessible by lift, you can make a trip up to the top with the family via snowmobile!
Åre also makes for a seamless you stay in this city, because hotels like Copperhill Mountain Lodge are literally facing the mountains. So when the kids are done for the day, you can drop them off either at the pool or in your hotel room and head off to the spa.
These are a few of our places to ski in Norway (and a tiny bit of Sweden), which are your favourites?
