The historical seaport of Fredrikstad is Northern Europe’s best preserved fortress city. Here, right by the Glomma river and ten minutes’ walk from the university in Fredrikstad, is our hotel. Fredrikstad is especially busy in the summer, when the harbour and all its restaurants are filled with locals and visitors alike. The Old Town in Fredrikstad is very popular all year round, with its cobbled streets and squares and lots of little boutiques, galleries and quaint cafés. If you have some time to spare and want to look around, you also find Østfold artists’ centre and Litteraturhuset in the city centre.

The city’s location is also perfect for lovely experiences on and by the lake, with the beautiful Hvalerøyene right outside. From Oslo airport there are both bus and train services ,and from Oslo central station it takes about one hour by train to Fredrikstad.
