Visit the Swedish Prison Museum or the Swedish Railway Museum and learn more about the city's history. We are close to the river Gävleån, which runs through the city. Cross the river at Kungsbron (The King's Bridge) for a great view of Gävle Castle. If you're visiting in December, you must not miss Gävle's biggest celebrity - Gävlebocken (The Gävle Goat). The goat is a giant version of a traditional Swedish Christmas goat. It is erected each year at the beginning of Advent.
