Hotel Føroyar

A wonderful weekend stay with friends, where we enjoyed the company in a cozy environment with good food and delicious drinks. The rooms were lovely, spacious and clean. The view of the city is amazing. The location is great, it's peaceful and quiet. The staff are nice, helpful and professional. I love that you have the opportunity to check out late on the weekend, and therefore can choose between going for breakfast or brunch, before going home back to everyday life.

We had 4 days in the Faroe Islands over New Year and could not have wished for a better experience. Reception staff were all enormously knowledgeable and helpful, breakfast offered a wide variety of hot and cold food, and the rooms were perfect - amazing view over the town, spacious & gorgeous toiletries. The town is easily walkable to and from the hotel. We had been advised to get a taxi back as it is uphill, but this really isn’t necessary if you have reasonable walking ability. There are good circular hikes from the hotel - we did a 12km taking in the town and waterfalls. There is also a cheap and efficient bus service from the town. The number 300 takes you to Miovagur and from there you can walk out to the floating lake. This bus also takes you to the airport. A fantastic hotel & excellent New Year destination. I picked this hotel based on the positive reviews, use by tour groups, and hotel amenities. My husband questioned why we would stay so far away when we had planned to access all of the remote islands via tunnels and roads on our 6-day, self-driving tour. We now both stand firmly behind our choice. This hotel exceeded our expectations with comfort and quality. The room was big and comfortable and pretty much sound proof (except when you are surrounded by a family reunion of unruly children and insensitive adults). The food was amazing with the breakfast buffet being plentiful and diverse. Truly the best buffet of our 3+ week trip. Dinner menu in the bar was limited but yummy. The staff was polite, cheerful and very helpful. Housekeeping is sporadic compared to the US, but all you have to do is ask and they will accommodate any request. One word of caution - moving your luggage to your room can be a long walk with stairs. There is an elevator, but only for luggage while you run the stairs and halls to catch up. Unusual, but it works and again, the staff was very helpful upon our arrival. We navigated our agenda each day with ease. Moving hotels was not necessary. Five Stars Hotel Foroyar!
