Clarion Collection® Hotel Katajanokka

We were drawn to this hotel because of it's unique history and absolutely loved our stay here. The rooms were clean and the beds extremely comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised that breakfast, lunch and dinner were all available at no extra cost and the quality of the food was outstanding. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit outside the city center, but only a short walk away and the tram stops just in front of the hotel making getting into the center quick and easy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to others.

Everything is fine, in customer service maybe the best customer service person in Finland at the reception (young man). I would give it five stars, but the pasta ran out in the middle of the evening meal (which the female customer server luckily told us about the freeness of it), as did the bread. Of course, more of them were brought. Maybe there should be more visible information about the fact that at the end of the dining room there is an authentic prison experience from the 50s visible, which was a pleasant surprise for me, because my relative worked in a prison at the time. The courtyard of the hotel/former prison and its neighborhood planting boxes were also nice. Easily accessible hotel by tram, next to its stop.

Very good stay, very friendly staff, we booked including breakfast which was very satisfactory. Clean rooms, good beds, near the city center (walking distance), in a building which has a past (prison). We specificly choose this hotel because of that. Very reasonably priced.

What a unique place to stay-old imposing brick structure. Used to be a prison and they have kept many of those features which makes it really fun. Tram stops right out in front of the "prison yard." Nice breakfast and free snacks at night that could serve as dinner. The only drawback- no air conditioning and the windows can't be opened. This is not a problem most of the time in Finland but if you happen to be there in the summer during a warm spell (like we were), it'll be a problem.
