Clarion Hotel® Helsinki

We got to Helsinki from the Northern Arctic. It was a surprising sunny day and we got upgraded to the 8th floor room. The view was spectacular with the last ray of light shining on the buildings in front of us. The room was super comfortable, even though the light switches were very confusing. Breakfast was good but scattered all over the place. It was hard to figure out where is what. Overall a very pleasant stay

Very stylish hotel with beautiful views of the port and city. Location is great, with a tram stop right outside. The rooftop pool, sauna, and gym area is top notch. Amenities are very nice. We were travelling with our 5-year-old son and the hotel had a kid siZed bath robe and slippers for him on his bed, which was a nice touch. Breakfast is varied, fresh, and delicious. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Very impressed with this hotel.

I will make this short. Good hotel, good rooms (a bit on the small side, but big enough), good breakfast, great staff!!!! Rooftop pool and sauna are a nice touch. Saunas are gender specific and have a nice view of the city/harbor. The hotel is not located very near to the city center, so it is a nice walk to get to the hustle and bustle. There are a few restaurants in a quick walking distance, but nothing much right around the corner. I enjoyed my stay and will likely be back.

For a conference guest, Clarion Helsinki might be an option but for others I would recommend almost any other 3-5 star hotel in the city centre. We had a staycation to celebrate my birthday and here is how it went: - The room and bed were OK but nothing special. Hotel app worked fine for checking in but not for door locks, and after several failed attempts we had to return to the reception to get functioning key cards. - On Sunday night, the hotel restaurant was open but only for the next day’s conference guests. Others would have to find food elsewhere which wasn’t that easy because all restaurants nearby close by 7-9 pm. - With wet changing room floors and broken lockers the gym and sauna were not that inviting either. - For weeks before our stay, my wife tried to order us a birthday cake for breakfast. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out because no one bothered to answer her requests. - Except for bartenders, the hotel staff were not concerned the slightest with our feedback. I travel a fair amount and being a regular guest of (other) Choice Hotels in Scandinavia and Europe, I was sorry to have the worst experience in my own home town.

This is a typical conference hotel. Food is good but... - too few well trained staff at chech-in, long queues of people - rooms are small, the shower leaks, mini-bar fridge is on but warm, soap dispensars are poor quality - NO SERVICE LIFT! Staff have to use guest lifts with their linnen trollies resulting in endless waiting times - One lift has been out of order for more than a week! Nice view of the harbour.
