Quality Hotel™ Skifer

Everything about this hotel is fantastic. Everyone who works here is incredibly helpful and friendly. Even the hardworking housekeeping staff take time to smile and say hello. Very impressive and not-at-all common. Oliver at the front desk and Silje, one of the chefs, deserve special mention for their kindness. They are a credit to this great hotel. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve seen and a perfect way to start the day. The spacious third floor sauna, just down the hall from my room, was also a huge plus. I especially appreciate the fact that the hotel has a contract with Krux, a gym across the street. That was a pleasant surprise because I didn’t see it in the description and had given up hope of getting a workout in while I was here. I wish all hotels were this nice with such a friendly, helpful team. Highly recommend!

We stayed at the Quality Hotel Skifer as part of a coach tour. A three course meal was provided. The main course was quite obviously a joke. It consisted of a huge slab of meat with gravy and some green vegetables and potatoes as a side dish. Our pieces were about 30mm x 30mm x 150mm long. Others had vast cubes about 75mm on each side. It looked like it might be beef. Someone asked the waitress who said it was brisket. Our chunks were solid lean meat but others in the party said that theirs had more fat than meat. The meat was tough. Very tough. And very difficult to cut with a standard dining room knife - a steak knife might have helped. Brisket is a joint which benefits from long slow roasting, which plainly hadn't been done with these cuts. It might have been edible if it had been thinly sliced, but presented as it was it was almost impossible to eat. The majority of the party left some, if not all of the meat and just ate the vegetables. The nicest comment I heard anyone say of the meal was that it was "a bit chewy". I wish that I had taken my phone to the table with me so that I could have taken a picture. I refuse to believe that Norwegians pay for and eat meat like this. The chef was obviously playing a joke upon his English guests.

This hotel has a noisy location with goods trains rumbling past all night. Perhaps a room on the other side of the hotel might have been better. We were put in the room furthest away from the list - or actually furthest away from the stair well as the single lift was broken. The 'midsummer party' buffet was good value.

We ate at the restaurant and it was delicious. They had a vegan option and amazing food! We did not stay here but were impressed by the staff and overall modern feel and will look into staying here for our next visit to Oppdal. They also have a nice lobby with a bar.

The hotel is 12 years old, but the standard is as good now as when it was new. Professional staff Very good breakfast and food in the restaurant. The hotel is located in the city centre, a short distance to shopping, restaurants and ski slopes
