Amerikalinjen

The hotel is in a great location close to the main train station and the opera house. The breakfast buffet is massive. There is so much choice, plus you can order hot eggs. The rooms are modern and quiet. There is a main shopping street close by and several tram stops, which made it possible to get around the city easily. I highly recommend this hotel.

EARLY BREAKFAST, THE FIRST IN OSLO, NORWAY, 01 DECEMBER 2024: Thank God In His Name of Jesus, Amen! At the early dawn of the First Advent Sunday, Christmas 2024, the three of us, my wife, Judge Angelina, and our daughter, Atty Luisa, partook of our first breakfast at the Atlas Cafe, at the Amerikalinjen Hotel, in Oslo, Norway. It is 8:30 am in Norway, but 2:30 pm Philippines. It is right to give thanks and praise to our God and Saviour who is God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for He is good, and His love endures forever, Amen! Salamat Panginoon!!! Amerikalinjen

Great hotel with great service. Great food in the restaurant and marvellous breakfast. Egg benedict for breakfast is amazing. The rooms are great with good beds and atmosphere. Love staying at Amerikalinjen and it is my preferred hotel in Oslo.

The first thing you notice when you step into the hotel is a blast of warm deliciously scented air. The second is the welcoming smile on the face of each staff member that catches your eye. The third is that this is a very, very nice hotel indeed. If you like your hotels high end but relaxed, attentive but informal and immaculate without pretension this is the place for you. Beautiful decor, great gym, delicious food and top service throughout. Soooo good. To prove this is not a paid for review (it's not) the only very minor gripe is that the rooms are fairly small and so storage isn't great - but everything else about the rooms is outstanding. I've rarely felt so at home in a hotel. As an added bonus on our fourth and final night we had an absolute blast in the Jazz club. If Oslo itself wasn't so cool I probably wouldn't have left the Amerikalinjen!

I stay in hotels almost weekly, and across five continents this year. Amerikalinjen was disappointing. They make it easy to not have contact with any human - kiosk check-in, no calls to check on stay, room service via app. So great on the technology side, but we literally only interacted with staff serving breakfast (and they were fantastic). So you’re left with the hopes of a great room (on the small side) and great amenities (overrun with locals - unable to use the bar or jazz club). As I read about the hotel renovation, it became clear the goal of this hotel was to become a place for the community first, and have been very successful at this goal. On future trips, I would avoid spending the night here and instead just visit the restaurant and bar. There just isn’t any type of “experience” provided as a hotel guest when everything is either digitally automated or fully booked.
