Funken Lodge

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the historic Funken Lodge!! Even with an extended stay, the creature comforts were always felt… The only critique we can offer is to study the menu well if a traveller is allergic to fish/shellfish, as the menu may not have variety or the possibility of customization of existing dishes. This aside, we would definitely recommend this wonderful place, and hope to revisit in the future!!

Funken has been our „home“ for the past 8 days and we could not have wished for any better place. The perfect location, cozy atmosphere and above it all the truly wonderful team made our experience in Longyearbyen memorable beyond imagination. Spending our nights playing cards in one of the many cozy places at Funken after having returned from exciting activities on the island - sometimes paired with the beauty of the Northern Lights dancing just behind the hotel: what more to wish for. Thank you, dear Funken Team, for this incredible experience. We truly fell in love with Funken, Longyearbyen and Svalbard.

Everyone in the staff was very friendly, atmosphere is relaxed, it' a peaceful place. The bar is excellent as are the cocktails.

Super cool hotel, great rooms, and amazing breakfast. But the real asset to this property is the staff. They were more than happy to help us understand why they chose to live in the northern most settlement in the world surrounded by polar bears. It's their passion, and it was such a delight hearing about their lives and plans for the future.
