Welcome to Dalarna and the world heritage Falun. The city has a rich cultural life, charming buildings and interesting visitor destinations. In addition, the city centre has world heritage protected nature areas and high-quality accommodation.

Hotel gem in close proximity to shopping

World Heritage Falun is not only the Falu Gruva (mine) itself, but the whole landscape around. Falu city, with its historic red-painted neighbourhoods and rural village, is both beautiful and interesting. Clarion Collection Hotel Bergmästaren is located in a central yet quiet location on Bergsskolegränd 7. Around the corner from the hotel you will find the city's wide variety of restaurants, shopping and entertainment. In addition, you are surrounded by world heritage protected nature areas and a relaxed atmosphere. Falunån (the river) flows right through the city and divides it into two parts. On the one side there is the famous Falu copper mine, which for many centuries was one of Sweden's foremost business operations. Falu city centre consists of nice pedestrian streets with shops, cafés and entertainment. From the hotel it is approximately 30 minutes by car to Dala Airport and 5 minutes’ walk to Falun Central Station.

Golf and skiing

For those who like skiing, Falun is an excellent starting point. There is both alpine and cross-country skiing nearby, and it's only half an hour's drive to the Bjursås Skicenter and Romme Alpin. In the city there is also a vibrant golf culture with two courses close by - Falun-Borlänge GK in Aspeboda and Dalsjö GK on the way to Borlänge.

Culture, nature and entertainment

Falun's attractions are close to the city centre. Both the Falu mine and the artist Carl Larsson's home Sundborn are within easy reach and are popular destinations. On Lake Runn, which lies between Falun and Borlänge, you can go sailing, fishing and kayaking during the summer. In winter the lake is ploughed and used for ice-skating. Falun also has a rich cultural life with institutions such as Dalarna Museum and Dalateatern (theatre). In addition, there are free groups and bodies like Magasinet, Nisserska teatern and festivals like Folkmusiknatta. Just outside the city centre is the Lugnet national ski resort, where the world championships in Nordic skiing have been held several times.
