Clarion Hotel® Draken

Top three hotels i have stayed at. Most comfortable beds i have ever slept in, never slept better. Food is great and furniture and rooms unique and modern. Restaurant on the top floor is beautiful and great food. I highly recommend this for everyone.

Upon arrival I had such high hopes for this hotel, it was billed as great new entry to the Gothenburg hotel scene. At check in things seemed great Nathalie at the front desk was a rockstar helping us out and was super service minded. Sadly that was the end of the good times. We found out that none of the three restaurants were open at the hotel (including room service) and we needed to use uber eats after our long trip from Hong Kong. We had pizza, the pizza boxes became a joke as they were outside our room for 3 days at which point we requested removal. Now you may be thinking why would housekeeping leave them there, well it’s day four and we still have not had our room cleaned. The breakfast is great, and the staff there are awesome. As are the staff at the “living room”. The restaurant Brasserie Draken at the top of the hotel is a disaster. They couldn’t care less if you are a hotel guest. The views are an amazing, the food is fine, the staff is arrogant and needs to come down to earth. When I booked I asked for a table at 19.00, I was told 18.30 or 20.30. We showed up at 18.30 the place was half empty which it stayed all night so a gimmick was already deployed at booking. Then I mentioned that I asked for a table with a view at booking, which there were plenty of when they seated us, I was told I need to wait. I then went and provided more information, I was told that they did not like my attitude. Then 3 minutes later they had a table with a view, which of course they did as the place was half empty, another gimmick deployed at seating. The food was ok not great, the view well that was amazing. The waitress we had was also very kind and helpful. If they have high expectations for this for hotel and restaurant then playing games with guests should be removed from the menu. The food is priced very high for the city and you have 50+ better restaurants to choose from. They are completely relying on the view, and have very lofty views of themselves that are not rooted in reality. Some other negatives: You can’t control the temperature in the room No safe (come on!) No phone in the room (come on!) Ladies of the night (gross) Closet space for one person for one day Missing in action cleaning staff, we have dust balls floating in our room No lunch options at the hotel WiFi barely works Construction on both sides of the hotel In summary you have across the board better hotel options in Gothenburg. Hopefully the hotel wakes up to zero service is not going to carry it in the long run. For now I would avoid this option. Some better options: Riverton hotel for views and service. Avalon hotel for amazing service and clean rooms.

I can't find a reason to choose a nother hotel in Göteborg. I have been to several in Gothenburg and this is absolutely the best, all categories.

I have stayed at many of the hotels in Gothenburg during the past ten years and I would rate this top five in the city.

1. Breakfast ... you have to use the tv and a mobile phone to book a breakfast slot!. Stupid - who ever thought up that idea. Its so frustrating I simply walked in. Nobody asked for my room number. I could have come in off the street. Breakfast was superb NO SAFE. A nasty money saving idea. The maid had not left any tea bags, so had to make an overseas call to hotel, to request some. They came very promptly, Who chose the pillows ? Biggest Ive ever seen in any hotel. Most uncomfortable. No pictures in the corridors The hookers leaving calling cards with a QR code in the mens toilet on the 33rd floor. Arriving by car is a nightmare
