Icehotel

We recently stayed at the IceHotel for 2 nights and were pleasantly surprised given the varying reviews. Here are our general observations: 1. Warm Room: Our "warm room" resembled a clean Scandinavian dorm room and was very well equipped with a hair dryer, Kettle with tea bags, reading lights, nice shower gel, good water pressure, etc. We liked it just fine. 2. Cold Room: We had reserved a cold “suite” for a night but opted to stay instead in our warm room. There were different types of cold rooms and we would definitely recommend getting one that has its own bathroom adjacent to the room. The cold rooms are open to the public so you can’t have access to it until 6 pm. 3. There were 3 comfortable lounge areas nicely decorated in Scandi style, two of which had full bars with expensive drinks. We liked the cozy bar in the “Adventure Center” best. 4. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. 5. The breakfast buffet was enormous and varied. Open from 7:30 – 10:30 am. Included in the room rate. 6. We had dinner one night at the Old Homestead (easy 10m minute walk down the street) which seems to be affiliated with the Hotel. It was rustic with options such as pizza, burgers and local specialities such as “pulled bear” and reindeer stew. Decent red and white wines by the glass and bottle. 7. The activities are expensive and felt very touristy. Think "laminated sheets" with color photos... We were very glad that we did our own research and booked an ice fishing trip with a local guide. 8. You do feel a bit trapped here. It's a hassle to go into Kiruna because the 501 bus goes only sporadically to/from Ice Hotel- Kiruna and then otherwise, it's an inexplicable $50-$60 taxi ride to/from Kiruna (11 miles).

We stayed with friends and our expectations were high , the artwork was amazing but the service and information provided was not up to the standard expected when paying so much

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights; 1 night in a cold room and 1 in a warm. We didn't know what to expect when trying to sleep on a huge block of ice, but the provided sleeping bag was extremely warm. Maybe even too warm for my preference.

Amazing experience at the Ice hotel. We stayed there for 2 nights, at the end of our lapland trip and we loved it! Two main takeaways from our stay: 1- sleeping in one of the ice rooms. We chose to stay in the deluxe room, with attached warm bathroom and we just loved the experience 2- lovely list of activities proposed by the hotel. We did 3 in total (dog sledding, snowmobile and ice sculpting) and we really enjoyed each of them, despite the coldness. Very well organized, amazing guides and the hotel provides all needed equipment, which made it very easy and enjoyable

Absolutely wonderful stay in the IceHotel for my birthday. We booked several excursions through the hotel, including dog sledding and the wilderness dinner. Amanda was a fab host during our wilderness dinner, the food was superb and she even made the effort to hunt some auroras for us which was not on the itinerary for the evening but hugely appreciated. The ice rooms are spectacular, if you can stay in one I would highly recommend it, such a unique and memorable experience. All in all a great experience, staff are friendly and welcoming and I would absolutely stay here again.
