Comfy bed. Clean room (215). Cozy restaurant. Good breakfast. Nice staff. Central location. Parking (not free) nearby. No floor towel in bathroom. Had to use regular towel on floor. No new towel on day 2. No toilet paper refill. Poor water pressure in shower.

A big plus for the outdoor area, and for parking within the walls. But totally disinterested male receptionist when we arrived (possible holiday substitute?) - it was completely quiet in the reception area, he didn't look up when we entered the door, it was clear that he was reading the newspaper online, and he did that for about 5 minutes, before he asked why we were there, if we wanted to check in; no smiles or wishes for a welcome, as one would expect from a hotel of this caliber. Got a standard room (?) on the 4th floor, with only a small window for a window. This was one of the hot days so it was extremely hot in the room and we were allowed to borrow a floor fan from the cleaning lady in the corridor. The room was very compact for 2 people, with mattresses of 80 cm each, but well equipped with a bedside table, desk, cupboard and chair. The room was also very clean, with a small but delicate bathroom. It was not possible to stay in the room, because of the heat, so we went out and sought refuge under the pergola in the backyard, and eventually went to have lunch in the center, a short distance away as the hotel is central. The hotel later served a perfectly fine evening meal, with service minded and pleasant kitchen/service staff, it was tidy and nice in the dining room. It was difficult to find peace in the room at night, as it was incredibly hot/little ventilation there. Eventually got a claustrophobic feeling in the room, had to leave the door open to the corridor for the rest of the night, to be able to breathe properly; a real feeling of discomfort and despair, sat in the chair and watched tv for the rest of the night because of this. Lovely breakfast the next morning, delicately prepared with varied fresh bread and cold cuts, again clean and tidy in the breakfast room with kitchen staff present. Will probably choose another hotel in Karlstad, the next time I go, because of the unpleasant atmosphere in the room on the 4th floor.

Don’t have to much expectations from this hotel besides the bed which is very comfortable. The fan in the room was so loud I could barely sleep. There was also a newspaper stuck in it; don’t get why…. The dinner that was included for the stay is definitely not for the picky eaters. Pasta that changed color cos it was there all day, soup that was cold and the pasta sauce that was bland. Breakfast is ok, don’t expect to much. The staff is ok. I found free parking outside which definitely is a plus.

Great value for money! I have stayed here several times before. It’s a natural overnight stop when I am driving to Stockholm or Finland. I have been here for a weekend stay as well. This last trip was a stop over. It was fantastic to have the delicious, included, dinner upon arrival after many hours of driving. Friendly staff, good food and clean rooms. Easy walking distance to the city center and convenient parking. I will definitely keep returning!

Very nice hotel. Clean, comfortable, unique rooms. Good service. Located at edge of town center so good location for walking to restaurants and river walk. The building has an interesting history that is displayed downstairs.
