Clarion Hotel® Arlanda Airport Terminal

Overall very good location, facilities and friendly staff. The limescale and drain need to be cleaned better/more often in the shower. Good restaurant with a large selection and variety at breakfast.

I stayed at the Clarion in the Arlanda Stockholm Airport for one night, more precisely 15 hours while between flights. I chose this hotel out of the handful of hotels in the airport because it had a sauna and good reviews for breakfast. I was disappointed when I arrived at 1pm and was denied early check in. They are VERY strict about the 3pm check in. Myself and about 20 other guests waited on the sofas in the large lobby area until we could check in at 3pm. Many people ended up falling asleep while they waited. It's just rude not to offer free early check in at an airport hotel where most people are leaving in the wee hours of the morning anyway. I've stayed at other Clarions that allowed free early check in. When i finally got to my room, it was pleasant enough and mostly clean, but neither trash bin had been emptied and the previous occupants trash was in both the bedroom and the bathroom. I was able to use the sauna which was the main reason I chose this hotel. The gym, sauna, and pool area was clean and orderly. They had ample towels, water, and even some fruit available. After the sauna I went back to my room to rest and prepare for my flight. The room was pretty cold and you could not really adjust the temperature. You are only allowed to raise or lower the temp 2 degrees from what ever the baseline setting is. I was cold in my room and ended up sleeping with my long coat on top of the blankets. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable and the room sound proof. The hotel is located about a 5-10 minute walk from the terminal 5 check in counters where I went in the morning to check my bag. They are so close that even though I had a 6am flight, I was able to check my bag in at 3.45am and still had to time to go back and have breakfast at the hotel before going through security. The breakfast was a plentiful smorgasbord of choices. They had all the things you would expect from a Swedish hotel. There was a yogurt bar, fresh breads, cheeses, cold cuts, slices veggies, coffee, tea, juices, soft and hard boiled eggs, hot items normally find in both English and American breakfast (i.e. beans, bacon, soft scrambled eggs), and Clarion's signature ginger shots. If I need to book a hotel at Arlanda again, I might try the Radisson Blu next door. It doesn't have a sauna but it's 800 feet closer to the terminals and they allow free early check in.

We stayed here with our 2 kids due to early morning flight. The room was specious and very clean. The breakfast was fantastic and it starts from 4 am which is fabulous. No need to step outside to get to the terminal.

I was very pleased with the staff they were all very polite and nice but the rooms could use some good cleaning. I was travelling alone but for some reason there was a third bed in my room which made it really crowded. I had to look for the remote control for about 10 minutes, the TV was on but it was nowhere to be found. I looked under the extra bed and there was a piece of trash there. I finally found the remote on the floor in the curtains. Also the curtains had plenty of pen ink stains, that was really weird and not what you would expect in such a hôtel. The walls in the bathroom had some foundations stains all over them, that was really puzzling as well. The one highlight was the very nice gentleman at breakfast who was very welcoming and nice.

Overall, this is a good and convenient hotel at a good price, but with one severe deficit. The check-in process is really sloowww! It's enough to make you want to go elsewhere. I passed the front desk several times in one evening and there was always a long line of people waiting to check in. The buffet breakfast is excellent and the rooms are comfortable, although some "architect" apparently thought it was okay to build shower stalls that have neither doors or curtains to prevent water from splashing out. Bad idea.
