From bakery to hotel
The hotel building has a long and interesting history. Designed by renowned architect Ernst Grönwall, it was built as a residential property in 1938. There was a bakery and café on the ground floor, and for a while, the reception area was home to a glove shop. The property was converted into a hotel in 1967, named after the Duke of Wellington.
Guest house history
About sixty years ago, the guest house building was a home for girls. Some years later, the old patrician building was converted into a simple hotel with shower facilities in the corridor. The hotel has been rebuilt and renovated over the years. The guest house has been part of the Clarion Collection Wellington since October 2014.
