Clarion Hotel® Wisby

Woah, it´s getting dark in here. My first impression after opening the door to my superior double room at the Clarion Wisby. The room I was assigned was located at the end of a corridor and was shaped like a long tunnel (significantly longer than wide). And it was dark. There was no ceiling light, only bedside lighting, a light on the table and a light in corner, and a light at the entrance - all had to be switched on and off independently of each other - going to bed turned into an activity! The furniture has seen better times as have the wallpapers and the light switches. Everything creaks , the mattress - well, it was like entering into a deep mountain valley. About 2ft in front of the only window is a hedgerow and the window seems to open towards some kind of interior courtyard. But, this again, does not let much light into the room. The bathroom provided a bathtub, an on-demand floor heater and a - historic-looking - towel heater. Wifi reception was veeeery spotty. If i put a chair directly next to the room door, my phone as well as my portable computer picked up the signal w/o a hitch. Moving just 2m to the left towards the desk area I felt like back in the early 90s - either no connection at all or 1 min to load any website. Btw, while the hotel website shows their pool area and states it was available to the hotel guests, one will find a note in the room that the pool use is only available for an additional fee. The wintergarden restaurant is located in a glass-covered courtyard and looks spectacular - regardless if you visit for a coffee or for dinner (the original hotel restaurant is closed atm). Breakfast was average and the area is very crowded - tables and chairs are put that closely that one regularly needs another guest to move if one wants to leave the table. The hotel is located in a row of buildings inside the historic district of Visby inside the city walls and the quality of your room seems to depend heavily depend on which area of the hotel you are assigned to. The staff was superb. They listened to all complaints, answered all questions and helped in any way they could. I would have loved to look back and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel - however I cannot.

Easy walking distance to ferry terminal, lovely hotel with comfortable rooms that vary in size. The hotel bar is magnificent and the spa is quite nice. Easy walk to botanical gardens. It’s uphill to most of the restaurants but downhill when you go home for the night.

The wifi signal is weak and they can not solve it during a whole week. I contacted 3 staff and only one tried to help me out and ask felp from router maintenance guy, though it did not make a difference. The glasses are just quickly cleaned by tap water. Don't they have a dish washer? Do they do it for all of the guests?

If you go to Gotland stay here. This hotell has the best staff and is the most welcoming hotell on the island. Rooms are great and the bar has good food. The personal will help you with what ever you need.the rooms are superb you Will like it here. Book your next wisit to Gotland here.

A spontaneous booking on the same day rendered an excellent experience. Staff at reception personal and accommodating. Rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast enjoyable. Location perfect should you come by car. The sauna in the spa could use an upgrade in terms of esthetics and heating surface.
